An open litter box does its job, but it also does a few things nobody asks for: it lets odor drift across the room, lets litter scatter across the floor, and leaves your cat doing its business in full view of the household. For a modest, private animal, that is not an ideal setup — and it is not great for your nose either.
An enclosed litter box gives your cat the privacy they instinctively want while keeping the mess and smell contained for you.
How an Enclosure Helps
The covered design changes the whole litter-box experience. Odor stays inside the enclosure instead of filling the room, so the area around the box stays fresh between scoops. Litter that your cat kicks while covering their waste hits the walls of the enclosure instead of your floor. And because the space feels like a den rather than an open stage, many cats prefer it.
What Makes This One Practical
- Complete with a scoop. The scoop that fits the box is included, so the routine is ready from day one.
- Designed to reduce scatter. The enclosure catches litter on the way out, cutting down the trail your cat tracks across the house.
- Easy to clean. The interior is easy to wipe down, and regular scooping keeps odor and buildup under control.
- Simple entry. An accessible opening suits cats of all ages, including seniors who struggle to climb into high-sided boxes.
Helping Your Cat Adjust
- Place the box in a quiet, low-traffic corner away from food and water bowls.
- Keep the same litter your cat already uses when you first switch.
- Leave the box open and let your cat explore it before using it.
- Scoop daily — a clean, enclosed box is the best way to keep picky cats on board.
The Bottom Line
Your cat wants a private, predictable bathroom, and you want a home that does not smell like one. An enclosed litter box with a scoop delivers on both — less odor, less mess, and a happier cat.
